How To Use Your Titan Telescoping Flagpole

Titan Telescoping Flagpoles are easy to operate. Anyone can raise or lower one like a pro without any training, but follow the tips and directions below to learn all about how the flagpole works, and how to best use it.

If you haven't installed the flagpole, you'll want to check out the Installation Instructions first, but once your ready to fly a flag, use the step-by-step instructions below to install the flag(s), and extend the pole to full height.

operation step one, 25 ft poles only

Step 1: For 25 ft Poles Only

If you have a 25 ft pole, there is an extra step to take before you can use your flagpole. You'll need to remove the double harness from it's installed position, and then reinstall it on the top section of pole. To do this, simply remove the spring clips, and then open up the harness. Once open, you can remove it, and reposition it to just below the retaining ring on the top section of pole. You'll have to use some force to close the harness back up once in position, but this is normal and should not result in any damage. Once in place, secure the clips back onto the harness.

For 15 ft and 20 ft poles you do not need to do this, so skip this step.

Step 2: Add Your Flag(s)

Before extending the pole, use the spring loaded clips to install one or two flags onto the pole. See the instructions below for the three different options for flag display, then clip to install in your desired configuration. Once the flag is in place, you can begin to extend the sections of pole.

Step 3: Extend The Pole

To raise the flag, or extend the pole to full length, you simply raise and lock into place each section. The total number of sections will be determined based on the overall height of your pole, but it will be either 3 or 4 sections.

In the picture it shows a cut-out view of the pole, so that you can see the internal mechanism. Rest assured, your pole will be solid on all sides with no windows like the one in the picture. Do take a look at the picture though, as it makes it clear how the pole operates, and how each section locks down onto the one below it.

To raise each section, simply slide it up. Once you have it extended, turn it slightly to th right, and then let it lower slightly to settle into the locked position. You should be able to feel it as it engages into the interlocking mechanism.

Step 4: Finish Raising or Lower

To extend the pole to full length, continue lifting and locking each section into place. Once you have extended all section, you p[ole will be ready to use.

To lower the pole, simply reverse the process: lift the pole up slightly, turn to the left slightly, then allow the section to lower. When lowering, be sure to hand-over-hand the sections to prevent a fast free-fall, and avoid any damage.

PLEASE NOTE: When extending the pole, make sure to align the sections properly, and secure each one thoroughly. If the pole sections do not engage properly, it may cause damage to the sleeve, or it may cause the pole to collapse unexpectedly.

Three Ways To Use It:

Each flagpole set will come complete with all of the hardware needed to support three different flag display options. You'll be able to fly one or two flags that are 3x5 or 4x6, or one flag at half-staff. Follow the easy instructions below to get the look you want.

option one, fly one flag

Option 1: Fly One Flag

To fly one flag in the standard position at the top of the pole, simply use the top set of clips to secure the flag to the pole. Connect the top grommet with the highest clip, and then use the next one to secure the base of the flag by clipping to the lower grommet. Clips are free to rotate around for improved flag display.

The flag does not raise or lower once it's installed. There are no ropes or pulleys, so the flag will fly more freely, and you'll raise or lower the actual pole to get the flag up or down.

option one, fly two flags

Option 2: Fly Two Flags

A second set of flag clips is included with all flagpole sets, so it's easy to fly an additional flag under your main one. To add a second flag, there is nothing to set-up or change, and you won't have to purchase anything additional. Simply use the lower set of clips that's already there to add your second flag. The lower flag installs in the same way as the main flag, so it will also rotate and fly freely once installed.

option three, fly one flag at half staff

Option 3: Fly One Flag at Half Staff

For flying a flag at half staff, you can only use one flag. If you normally fly two flags, you'll have to remove the lower flag in order to move down the upper main flag. To fly your main flag at half-staff, simply un-clip it and then reinstall it with the lower set of clips.

How To Maintain Your Titan Telescoping Flagpole

Unlike other flagpole options, Titan Telescoping Flagpoles are designed to be maintenance-free. The superior materials are extremely weather resistant and long-lasting, so in most cases they last a lifetime. There are no lubricants required throughout the life of the flagpole, and because there are no ropes to wear, or pulleys to break, you won't have to worry about replacing failed parts over time either. The anodized aluminum exterior will not rust or fade with time, and you'll be able to easily clean it when necessary by just using a mild dish soap and water. Simply wipe clean with a car wash mitt or microfiber towel, then rinse to finish. For best results, also dry thoroughly once you get it thoroughly clean.

Ice and Snow Warning

This pole is designed to withstand ice and snow, and can be installed outside in any weather conditions, but ice and snow can also ruin it. Take care to never leave your flagpole in the lowered position during bad weather that includes ice and snow. When in the collapsed position, moisture can penetrate the pole sections to cause problems long-term. Make sure to either leave your pole in the fully extended position, or collapse it and take it all-the-way out of the ground.

For most weather conditions, you should have no concern, but if you are going to take precaution due to severe weather, it is best to both lower and remove your pole in that case.
